Town News|

This week was a very eventful week in Greenwood. This past Wednesday, June 16th, a press conference was held, breaking the news that the Historic Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Business district was added to the National Registry of Historic Places. There were dozens of speakers, attendees and local news coverage, which gave positive exposure to the amazing and growing community within Greenwood.
Juneteenth followed the press conference. The new federal holiday was another success, with many vendors selling great food, beautiful art, music and more. The main event during the day was the Black Wallstreet Alliance fashion show, with young and local runway-walkers. The nighttime event was a free concert by the multi-platinum r&b artist, Mario. This concert lasted from 10:30 to 1, and was a push to increase Greenwood’s nightlife, lead by the Greenwood Speakeasy, opening soon.
The Chamber of Commerce also recently partnered with the Tinker Federal Credit Union, located at 8920 E 61st St, Tulsa, OK 74133. Open a new bank account through TFCU to receive a free $10 into the account. TFCU is a non-profit company, and one of the various ways it returns its profits to the community is through financial education. Using their help, Greenwood plans to start a financial literacy class.
